Oceanside, CA–Authorities continue searching for missing Oceanside resident Angelica Brophy following an extensive multi-agency investigation that has included search-and-rescue teams, dive crews, and detectives working to determine her whereabouts.
Brophy was reported missing to the Oceanside Police Department at approximately 9:30 p.m. on July 6.
The following day, detectives with the department’s Investigations Division began pursuing leads in an effort to locate her. On July 8, investigators contacted Brophy’s cell phone carrier and attempted to “ping” her cellphone. The effort was unsuccessful because the phone was either turned off or had a dead battery.
Detectives later determined that Brophy’s last known location was at Harrah’s Resort in Valley Center at approximately 3:30 p.m. on July 6.
On July 9, investigators located Brophy’s vehicle in the parking lot of Palomar Mountain State Park. However, Brophy was not with the vehicle.
A large-scale search operation was immediately launched by officers with California State Parks, assisted by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team. Search crews conducted extensive operations from the evening of July 9 through July 11 but were unable to locate Brophy despite covering the area.
The search expanded on July 12 when dive team members from California State Parks searched a pond within Palomar Mountain State Park. That effort also proved unsuccessful.
Authorities resumed the search on Monday with assistance from divers from the San Diego Harbor Police Department as investigators continue working to locate Brophy.
