OCEANSIDE–Oceanside police officers arrested a man in connection with the death of another man inside an Oceanside apartment on Thursday.

Police officers took Michael Newton, 66, into custody. Investigators determined that Newton was responsible for the victims death, according to Oceanside Police Department spokesman Tom Bussey.

Newton allegedly was visiting the apartment renter, located in the 3200 block of Mission Cove Way.

Shortly before noon, Oceanside police officers responded to a call of a non-breather at the apartment.

When officers arrived, they found the 41-year-old male victim lying on the floor of the apartment deceased. The victim had sustained trauma to his upper body.

The case investigation is ongoing.
