OCEANSIDE–A vector control pilot who was dropping pesticide in Oceanside spotted a body floating in a marsh/lagoon on Thursday, according to the Oceanside Police Department.
Oceanside police were dispatched to the area of State Route 76 and Frazee Road in reference to a body floating in a marsh/lagoon located behind the Vons grocery store.
The area where the body was floating was inaccessible by foot. The UAS Team was requested and responded to the scene to assist.
A drone was deployed over the area and officers were able to confirm that there was a deceased individual floating in the water.
Oceanside Fire Department lifeguards were called to the scene to help with the retrieval of the body from the water.
Based on the appearance of the body, it may have been in the water for at least a couple of weeks.
Officers have not been able to identify the victim. The victim’s identity will be determined by the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office.
