SAN DIEGO–On Thursday,  military daughters will spend a special evening twirling on the arm of their closest hero; their dad.

Little girls will put on their finest gowns and fathers will get their military uniforms pressed for the Armed Services YMCA San Diego’s 8th Annual Father & Daughter Dance: Sweet Moments. This elegant evening celebrates a valued relationship for active duty fathers and their daughters and provides unique family bonding time that will be cherished for a lifetime. Over 450 guests from over 185 military families are expected to attend the sold out event which is sure to be filled with sweet family moments. This event, held just before Valentine’s Day, is sponsored by Avant Garde, a subsidiary of the Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA).

The memories that are to be made on this special night truly outshine the challenges that a military lifestyle brings for service members and their loved ones. With frequent deployments and numerous relocations, quality bonding time between a daddy and his little girl can be hard to come by. That is why it is so important for dads to set aside a special evening to make his daughter feel like a princess and acknowledge the special and important role he plays in her life.

“At the ASYMCA, we believe that family bonding is a top priority. Moms and dads who serve in the military have to miss birthdays, graduations, recitals, and so many other important milestones,” says Cathy Tann, ASYMCA Family and Youth Program Manager and Event Chair. “This event allows them to recreate some of that magic and is a tradition looked forward to all year long for many of our families.”

Guests will enter a sugary sweet candyland decorated with floating gumdrop balloons, sucker pop center pieces, and a fully stocked candy table where the girls can fill up on all kinds of tasty treats. Although most of the night will be spent with the DJ out on the dance floor, attendees will be provided with a delicious meal, door prizes, a necklace keepsake, professional photography, and they can even take part in a wacky photobooth session. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Father & Daughter dance attendees will go home with full hearts and memories for life.
