Savannah Bananas bring “Banana Ball” to Petco Park

SDCN Staff

San Diego, CA–Baseball fans in San Diego are in for an unforgettable experience this September as the Savannah Bananas bring their unique style of America’s pastime—known as “Banana Ball”—to Petco Park.

The Georgia-based team announced that they will take the field on September 5 and 6, with both games scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the home of the San Diego Padres.

The Bananas have built a nationwide following of fans, young and old, for their unconventional and highly entertaining brand of the sport. Banana Ball features a set of fast-paced rules that include no bunting, a two-hour time limit, and batters allowed to steal first base. Fans are even part of the action—foul balls caught by spectators count as outs.

If a game ends in a tie, the teams settle it with an one-on-one showdown, a signature twist that has become a fan favorite.

The team’s appearance is a rare opportunity for San Diegans to witness the viral baseball sensation in person, as part of the Bananas’ national tour.
