San Diego, CA–The 45th annual Ocean Beach Street Fair and Chili Cook-Off returns June 28 bringing a full day of vibrant energy and a chance to discover all Ocean Beach has to offer.
Festivities will take place along the 4800-5000 blocks of Newport Avenue in Veterans Plaza and Saratoga Park. This free community event is presented by Buzz Cannabis and features activities and entertainment.
Attendees are invited to enjoy two live music stages, a beachfront Chili Cook-Off, Community Murals, an Artist Alley featuring local artisans, the Ocean Beergarden, food and merchandise vendors, and a Seaside Family Fun Zone.
The Chili Cook-Off allows guests to taste award-winning chili recipes and vote for their favorite. Tasting kicks off at 11 a.m., with $2 sample cups or a $25 Master Ticket for sampling all the chili and voting. Awards will be announced at 3 p.m. on Sunset Stage located in the OB Pier parking lot.
Get creative at the Community Mural areas on Bacon Street, just south of Newport Avenue! Starting at 10 a.m., guests of all ages can purchase a $25 square and paint a section of one of two vibrant murals.
The Ocean Beergarden, in the OB Pier Parking Lot, offers an oceanfront setting to enjoy ice-cold brews and cocktails while listening to live music and entertainment on the Sunset Stage. Enjoy two-for-one drinks from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The Seaside Family Fun Zone promises beachside fun with arts and crafts, giant games, The Rad Hatter’s upcycled hat making, an interactive Artist Outpost area, a super-sized giant slide, inflatables, and a San Diego Gulls hockey shot.
Other activities include:
- Food Contests: OB Dirty Birds Wing Eating Contest and Hodad’s Burger Eating Contest provide midday entertainment on the main stage.
- Photo Opportunity: Snap a picture with the large Discover Ocean Beach letters and colorful balloons at Newport Ave. and Sunset Cliffs Blvd. using #OceanBeachCA.
- 92107 Contest Booth: Swing by the 92107 Contest Booth near the 92107 Stage in the US Bank Parking Lot at Newport Ave and Sunset Cliffs Blvd, for your chance to win OB gift cards and swag from Hodad’s, Dirty Birds, Ocean Beach Gift and Shells, and a Shibumi Shade. One lucky winner will receive a two-night stay at the beautiful Inn at Sunset Cliffs.
Free parking is available at the Sun Runner lot on Sea World Drive at Pacific Coast Highway. Free Trolley services run from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and a free bike valet is offered at Bacon Street and Newport Avenue.
