Shooting victim dies, Sheriff’s Dept. launch investigation

Vista, CA–A man who was shot while walking along a street in North County last month has died from his injuries, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office. 

The San Diego Sheriff’s Homicide Unit received notification from the Medical Examiner’s Office on April 29 that 21-year-old Frank Martinez had succumbed to his injuries. 

Martinez was found shot on April 13 around 8:30 p.m. in the 300 block of South Santa Fe Avenue. 

First responders arrived at the scene and transported Martinez to a hospital for treatment. 

The San Diego Sheriff’s Homicide Unit will handle the investigation. 

No suspects were arrested.
