Oceanside, CA–An Oceanside man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a fatal shooting earlier this month, according to police.
Officers with the Oceanside Police Department served a search warrant in the 1600 block of Kraft Street, where they arrested 36-year-old Osvaldo Lopez without incident. He was booked into the San Diego County jail on suspicion of murder.
The arrest stems from a June 7 incident in which officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim near the 400 block of Country Club Lane. Responding officers found an adult male in a nearby canyon suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts, the man died at the scene.
The victim was identified as 38-year-old Malietoa Rasmussen, a resident of Oceanside.
