Motorist killed in solo vehicle collision in Oceanside

By Gina Yarbrough

Oceanside, CA–A motorist was fatally injured in a solo vehicle collision early Sunday morning, according to the Oceanside Police Department.

Police responded to reports of a rollover crash near the intersection of El Camino Real and Vista Oceana at approximately 2:19 a.m. The incident involved a 2007 Scion TC traveling southbound on El Camino Real, which struck a raised curb line and overturned. The impact caused the driver to be ejected from the vehicle, the Oceanside Police Department stated in a news release.

Authorities confirmed that the driver, a 33-year-old Hispanic male, was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. His identity has not been released and is pending his family’s notification.

Investigators are still working to determine whether speed or alcohol played a role in the crash. No other vehicles were involved, and the driver was the sole occupant of the car.

The Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is leading the investigation.

Anyone with information about the collision is urged to contact Traffic Collision Investigator Jose Gomez at (760) 435-4952.
