San Diego County, CA–The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office has updated evacuation orders and warnings for the Border 2 Fire, citing improved containment of the blaze.
All evacuation warnings have been lifted. However, certain areas marked in red on the official fire map remain under an evacuation order. These areas will be reassessed as fire and weather conditions evolve.
Residents in green areas on the map are no longer under evacuation orders and may safely return home.
The following roads remain closed: Otay Lakes Road at Wuest Road and Otay Lakes Road just west of Pio Pico RV Park.
Additionally, Otay Lakes Road at State Route 94 is restricted to residents only. Law enforcement will require proper identification to access this area.
Firefighters continue working in the affected areas to mitigate hazards and reinforce control lines. Residents and travelers are advised to drive cautiously, as dust, noise, and ongoing fire suppression activities will persist day and night. Smoke may still be visible from burning areas, though officials assure the public there is no immediate threat.
Cal Fire/San Diego County Fire and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office remind residents that fire season is a year-round concern in Southern California. Families and neighbors are encouraged to have evacuation plans ready and to stay informed.
For updates, residents are advised to monitor official channels and adhere to local directives.
