Oceanside, CA–The Oceanside Police Department has released the identity of the man who was killed during an altercation last Saturday in a residential area of the city.
The victim has been identified as 68-year-old Fasil Gashaw Kebede of Oceanside.
Officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of Buffum Drive in Oceanside following a report of a subject involved in an altercation. When they arrived, officers made initial contact with the suspected individual. They checked the surrounding areas and located an adult male unconscious near a residence. Life-saving measures were attempted but were unsuccessful, the Oceanside Police Department stated in a release.
The decedent’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The initial suspect that was contacted by officers was arrested for murder. The suspect is Andrew Swan, 51-year-old, Oceanside resident. Swan was booked into the San Diego Sheriffs jail.
