ALPINE–A woman was found shot to death Saturday afternoon lying on a driveway next to parked vehicle in Alpine, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.

The female was pronounced dead in the 2800 block of Victoria Drive by Alpine Fire Department personnel, San Diego Sheriff’s Department spokesman Lt. Rich Williams said.

Alpine Sheriff’s deputies responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls from residents after they heard shots fired and seeing a man with a gun walking in the area. Deputies responded and quickly located a white male adult, matching the description of the armed male suspect. The man was detained without incident and found to be armed with two handguns.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will notify the next of kin and perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. The Sheriff’s Homicide Unit responded and has assumed responsibility for the investigation.
