ENCINITAS–Roll out the Red Carpet! World renowned fashion designer Zandra Rhodes will host Rancho Coastal Humane Society’s inaugural “Wiggles and Waggles” fashion show luncheon on Tuesday.
The 11 a.m. luncheon will be held at the Del Mar Country Club at 6001 Country Club Drive in Rancho Santa Fe. Proceeds from the event will benefit Rancho Coastal Humane Society.
“We’re still pinching ourselves to make sure we’re not dreaming. Fashion designer Zandra Rhodes is recognized worldwide. We’re so thankful that she’s hosting the Wiggles and Waggles fashion show luncheon benefiting your Rancho Coastal Humane Society,” Rancho Coastal Humane Society spokesman John Van Zante said.
Van Zante says that people recognize Rhodes as a fashion designer, but don’t realize that she’s also an animal lover.
“Some of our Rancho Coastal Humane Society supporters got to meet Zandra a few months ago when she was a guest at our Celebration of Second Chances. Zandra learned about all the work we’re doing to help pets and people. Shortly after that she offered to hold the fashion show luncheon benefitting Rancho Coastal Humane Society.”
The models for Wiggles and Waggles will include staff members, volunteers, and even a few pets from the humane society. They’ll be wearing clothing created by Rhodes.
“For some of the volunteers and staff members, this will be our first time seeing them wear anything other than Rancho Coastal Humane Society t-shirts or volunteer aprons,” Van Zante jokes. “For the pets, it will be their first time wearing any clothing, much less designer clothing by Zandra Rhodes.”
Rhodes, who celebrates “50 Fabulous Years of Design,” have designed clothing for film icons Elizabeth Taylor and Lauren Bacall, and Princess Diana.
The late Freddie Mercury and Brian May of Queen visited Rhode’s studio under cover of darkness to choose costumes in 1974.
Seating for “Wiggles and Waggles” is very limited and the event is expected to sell out. Guests are encouraged to make reservations as soon as possible.
Tickets are $125. That includes the Wiggles and Waggles fashion show and luncheon.
