SAN MARCOS–A man was stabbed in the upper torso during physical altercation with two other men in San Marcos, authorities said Monday.

San Marcos deputies responded at 3:30 p.m. to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the area of Richmar Avenue and Marcos Street.

Upon arrival, deputies located a Hispanic male juvenile who sustained two stab wounds during a physical altercation with two other Hispanic males. The juvenile was transported to Scripps La Jolla hospital where he is being treated for his non-life threatening, upper body injuries.

The stabbing is believed to be gang related and is being investigated by detectives from the Street Narcotics/Gangs Division.

Deputies searched the area for the two suspects with the assistance of Sheriff’s Astrea; however, the suspects have not been located.
