SANTEE–A Santee man was arrested Thursday in connection with the death of his seven-month-old infant, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
On December 3, at about 4:20 p.m., the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in San Diego arrested 34-year-old Daniel Charles Marshall. He was booked into San Diego Central Jail for one count of murder and child abuse resulting in death.
On April 22, at about 7:25 p.m., the Santee Fire Department responded to the 8600 block of Paseo Del Rey in Santee, for a report of a seven-month-old infant in medical distress. The infant was immediately transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. On April 25, the infant was pronounced dead.
The circumstances warranted further investigation resulting in the Child Abuse Unit responding.
As the investigation progressed, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
