VISTA–The San Diego Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s assistance is seeking the identity of a driver involved in a hit-and-run collision that left a motorcyclist with serious injuries in Vista.

The suspect was described as a male with dark complexion in his 30’s, 6 foot tall with a slender build. He had short hair and a dark colored beard, approximately 4″ in length. 

On December 21, shortly after 8 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies and fire personnel responded to a collision on North Melrose Drive, near the intersection of West Vista Way. 

The 33-year old female motorcyclist was traveling northbound on North Melrose Drive, when the driver of a white Ford Explorer made a left turn in front of the motorcycle. The driver of the Ford immediately fled the scene on foot. After an extensive search of the area, the driver was not located. The registered owner of the Ford was contacted and is not believed to be the driver.

The motorcyclist was transported by ambulance to Palomar Medical Center.
