Fallbrook, CA–A North County man is in custody following an arrest on multiple weapons charges.
The incident occurred on Thursday shortly after 8 a.m. when Sheriff’s deputies were investigating a domestic violence case at a residence in the 700 block of Steward Canyon Road in Fallbrook.
Deputies arrested 45-year-old William James Wallace without incident. According to Sheriff’s detectives, Wallace, a convicted felon, had potential access to firearms at his home.
During the search of his residence, deputies discovered two handguns, an assault rifle, and two privately manufactured firearms, commonly known as ghost guns. Unlike weapons produced by licensed manufacturers, ghost guns lack serial numbers or other identifiable markings, making it extremely difficult for law enforcement agencies to trace them to their owner or maker. The lack of serial numbers hinders investigations and delays crime-solving efforts, Sheriff’s Lieutenant Darrell McNeal stated in a news release.
Wallace has been booked into the Vista Detention Facility on several charges, including domestic violence, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and possession of an undetectable firearm.
