San Diego, CA–Loyal Select, San Diego Loyal’s part-time youth development program, unveiled the first roster of 24 players ahead of their inaugural season set to begin in late Spring 2021.

The club also announced their continued partnership with Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego, who will serve as the official 2021 Inaugurat Kit Partner.

Loyal Select, a youth club under the USL Academy League, was introduced in early 2021 as part of SD Loyal’s commitment to build and develop a true local professional pathway for elite players in the region as well as solidify San Diego as the soccer capital of the country. The program, primarily coached by Matt Hall, will feature San Diego Youth All-Stars from all over the region, regardless of where or who they play for.

“We are very excited to announce our very first roster for Loyal Select,” said SD Loyal Assistant Coach and Head Coach of Loyal Select, Matt Hall. “We have looked at hundreds of players throughout the county and have selected a great group of young men that will represent all that is great about San Diego youth soccer. Our club is honored to help these young men become not only better players, but great citizens. We have total confidence that Loyal Select’s first roster will be a source of pride for this great community.”

The jerseys will showcase the Loyal Select logo, a 1C iteration of the SD Loyal crest in Torrey Green and logo of the inaugural jersey entitlement sponsor. By becoming the first official jersey entitlement sponsor, Rady Children’s will be intrinsic to the culture of Loyal Select, SD Loyal and fans. Rady Children’s has been at the forefront of childhood health care for more than 65 years and will serve as a conduit for SD Loyal to connect with the local soccer community and recognize the incredible players, coaches and leaders that make this region the best in the country.

“Rady Children’s is thrilled to continue our relationship with the San Diego Loyal,” said Executive Director of Rady Children’s Hospital Foundation Steve Jennings. “They’ve been a great community partner throughout the pandemic, and we look forward to this new aspect as primary sponsor of their elite youth league, Loyal Select.”

Players, born in 2005 or later, will train normally with local clubs and receive training with SD Loyal once a week. Loyal Select plans to practice and compete in its home matches at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center. The season will run parallel to SD Loyal’s season and play roughly 10 matches over that period.
