Santee, CA–Two people were arrested at a driving under the influence and driver’s license checkpoint conducted by the Sheriff’s Department on Friday in Santee. 

Deputies operated the checkpoint from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. in the 9200 block of Carlton Hills Boulevard.

Approximately 762 vehicles went through the checkpoint. About 46 cars were sent to the secondary for evaluation. There were 15 DUI evaluations that resulted in two drug arrests. 

In addition, three drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed, and two drivers were cited for operating a vehicle with a suspended license. Three drivers were cited for other vehicle code violations, including driving with an open alcoholic beverage container. Two vehicles were also towed.

Funding for the DUI and Driver’s License checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
