Stabbing in Encinitas leaves one dead, suspect in custody

Encinitas, CA–A man is dead following a stabbing incident in a neighborhood in Encinitas Saturday night, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies received a call of a reported stabbing at the 300 block of Sprucewood Drive at  10:11 p.m. 

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found an adult male victim suffering from a stab wound. Despite immediate medical attention provided by the Encinitas Fire Department, the victim, whose identity has not been disclosed pending family notification, succumbed to his injuries. 

The suspect was detained by deputies about half a mile from the crime scene and is in custody. 

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation, working to establish the motive and circumstances surrounding the fatal attack.

Authorities have assured that there are no outstanding suspects and no immediate danger to the community. 

However, the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Homicide Unit at (858) 285-6330, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
