Vista, CA–Two juvenile pedestrians were fatally struck by an oncoming vehicle on eastbound State Route 78 Sunday in Vista, authorities said.
The Vista Fire Department received calls of a vehicle collision at 6:12 p.m. near the Mar Vista off-ramp.
The juveniles allegedly got out of the vehicle after the driver, their mom, had pulled onto the shoulder of the freeway. It was alleged that a suitcase on top of the vehicle may have come loose, according to authorities.
The identity of the two youths has not been released.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
