OCEANSIDE–Oceanside police detectives Friday arrested a U .S. Navy Corpsman in connection with the death of an Oceanside woman.
On Saturday at about 12;30 a.m., Oceanside police detectives arrested 25-year-old Eduardo Arriola for the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Devon Rideout, an Oceanside resident. She was employed as a corpsman in the US Navy aboard Camp Pendleton. Both individuals reside in the same apartment complex but there is no connection between the two. At this time there is no known motive for the shooting and detectives continue their investigation, according to Oceanside Police Department spokesman Tom Bussey.
On Friday, shortly before 4 p.m., the Oceanside Police Department responded to a gunshot victim at the apartment complex located at 550 Los Arbolitos. Officers found a female victim with gunshot wounds. Paramedics arrived and provided treatment but the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is still ongoing.
