LEMON GROVE–Authorities arrested a brother and a sister in connection with the shooting death of a man in Lemon Grove earlier this month.

The incident occurred on February 3 just after 6 p.m. in the 6900 block of Broadway. Deputies arrived on the scene and found a man who had been shot multiple times. He was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive, Sheriff’s Department spokesman Lt. Michael Rand said.

Over the next several days, detectives from the Lemon Grove Sheriff’s Substation and Rancho San Diego Sheriff’s Station followed up on numerous leads and were able to identify two suspects, 24-year-old Jacob Reyes and his sister, 25-year-old Jaysena Reyes.

On Tuesday, Jacob Reyes was located by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force at a home in Lemon Grove. The Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail and SWAT assisted the Fugitive Task Force with taking him into custody on suspicion of attempted murder shortly after midnight on February 11.

Jacob Reyes was also on federal probation for unrelated crimes and booked into federal custody for a probation violation. He will be booked into county custody once the probation violation is cleared.

Jaysena Reyes was arrested after turning herself into deputies on February 11. She is facing charges of being an accessory to a crime.
