Del Mar, CA–Looking for temporary work? The 22nd District Agricultural Association is hiring workers for the San Diego County Fair this summer.

This year, the district intends to hire more than 1,000 temporary workers to help put on the fair, which runs 20 days. The fair will feature animals, rides, games, live music, entertainment, education, community exhibits, and food. The jobs include ticket takers, traffic directors, guest services ambassadors, exhibit attendants, and laborers. Indoor and outdoor jobs are available.

“We love building our team every year to help officially get the summer started in San Diego County,” said Carlene Moore, CEO of the District, which produces the Fair and owns and operates the Del Mar Fairgrounds. “We are looking for people who embody our FAIRS values Fun, A+ Quality, Integrity, Respect, and Service and who love great weather, a fun and festive atmosphere, engaging our community, serving others, and seeing the sunset over the Pacific Ocean. There is no better place to work in the summer than at the San Diego County Fair.

The San Diego County Fair runs from June 12 to July 7, with closures on Mondays and Tuesdays, but some jobs start before the opening of the fairgrounds.

Employees will receive discounted fair tickets for friends and family, flexible hours, and an easy online application process.

Current job postings can be viewed on SDFair.com/jobs. More positions will be posted in the coming weeks. Hourly pay rates start at $16, but could be higher depending on the position. Applicants who have previously worked for the fair are welcome to apply again for any position that suits their interests and abilities.

The jobs for the fair are just for the season. Anyone interested in full-time positions with the District can browse job descriptions and apply at DelMarFairgrounds.com/jobs

The San Diego County Fair is the largest annual event in the region with roots that date back to 1880. The theme for the 2024 Fair is “Let’s Go Retro,” a nostalgic voyage back in time from the ’50s through the start of the new millennium. The 20-day Fair season will run from June 12 through July 7, with closures on Mondays and Tuesdays.
