East County, CA–The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing Spring Valley man who was last seen at his girlfriend’s home on August 4 in Lemon Grove, authorities said.

According to reports, 72-year-old Eddie Joe Taylor was driving home to Spring Valley when he called his girlfriend to say he mistakenly continued on State Route 125 south towards Mexico and crossed the border into Baja California, Mexico.

A factory-installed GPS tracker in Taylor’s car last showed him at Primera 13, La Esmeralda, 22117 Tijuana.  Taylor was reported missing on August 5.

His relatives say he is prediabetic, has high blood pressure, and has been confused and forgetful lately.

Law enforcement agencies in San Diego County and Baja California were also notified of the missing man. His name was entered into a missing person database.

Detectives are urging those who routinely cross the border to be on the lookout for Taylor to help find him. Local Spanish TV stations and publications were asked by authorities to profile Taylor’s story to help generate tips or leads.

Taylor was last seen wearing black jeans and a sweater. He stands 5’5″ tall and weighs approximately 165 pounds. He has brown eyes, short hair, and a beard.

He was driving a Gray 2013 Hyundai Elantra with California plate number 6XOJ393.
