Oceanside, CA–Firefighters responded to a reported vehicle fire Sunday afternoon that spread to a nearby residence in Oceanside, displacing five residents, fire officials said.

When Oceanside Fire Department crews arrived at the location in the 4600 block of North River Road, they found a vehicle actively burning, with flames extending into the attached home. Firefighters began an aggressive fire attack and worked to extinguish the vehicle fire while preventing further damage to the residence.

All occupants safely evacuated the home, and no injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross was notified to assist displaced residents with temporary housing and other support services.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Oceanside Fire Department.

Fire officials reminded residents to park vehicles away from structures whenever possible. Anyone who discovers a vehicle or structure fire should immediately call 911, evacuate the area and remain outside and clear of the scene so firefighters can safely operate.
