Ramona, CA–The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office released the identities of two people found dead inside a Ramona home on Monday night.
The victims were identified as 28-year-old Courtney Chandler, who was residing in Ramona, and 32-year-old Nicholas McClure, a San Diego County resident.
Authorities arrested 33-year-old Ryan Proffitt of Escondido on two counts of murder. He was booked into the San Diego Central Jail.
Deputies from the Ramona Sheriff’s Substation Monday were dispatched at approximately 8:44 p.m. to the 600 block of 11th Street following reports of an assault with a deadly weapon.
When deputies arrived, they located a man on the front steps of the residence and detained him without incident. After entering the home, deputies discovered an adult woman and an adult man suffering from significant traumatic injuries.
Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, but both victims were pronounced dead.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office said detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances and motive surrounding the killings.
Based on the investigation to this point, investigators believe the incident was isolated.
