Oceanside, CA–The Oceanside Fire Department has officially opened Fire Station 9, the city’s newest fire station, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony held in the North River Farms neighborhood.
Fire Station 9 is located at 5590 Giovanni Way, at the base of the South Morro Hills community, and is intended to enhance emergency response capabilities in the northwest portion of Oceanside.
City officials stated that the new station will significantly enhance fire protection and emergency medical response times in the rapidly growing area.
The station was constructed and fully funded by Lennar Homes, the developer of the North River Farms project, representing a major investment in public safety infrastructure tied to the development. Ongoing staffing costs are partially funded through a Community Facilities District supported by the North River Farms neighborhood, along with a share of property and sales tax revenue generated by the project.
Fire Station 9 is equipped with a Type 6 fire engine, designated Patrol 219, and is staffed by one fire captain and one firefighter-paramedic. The crew is prepared to respond quickly to medical emergencies, vegetation fires, and other incidents.
Although the ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the station’s official opening, the facility had been operational and serving the community since December 13.
“This station enhances our ability to deliver timely emergency services to residents in North Oceanside and surrounding areas,” Oceanside Fire Chief David Parsons said. “Fire Station 9 strengthens our systemwide coverage and reflects our commitment to keeping everyone safe, always.”
