Oceanside, CA–Oceanside police investigators are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck a 28-year-old male pedestrian crossing North Redondo Drive in Oceanside on Sunday. 

The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on North Redondo Drive just East of Martin Street, Oceanside Police Department Public Information Officer Jennifer Atenza stated in a release.

Officers and medical personnel responding to the scene immediately provided aid to the victim. He was transported to the hospital with critical injuries.

A portion of North Redondo Drive from Vandergrift Boulevard and Luna Drive was closed for several hours to allow for an investigation to be completed. The roadway has since opened.

Investigators are searching for the driver involved in the accident. The vehicle believed to be involved is a 2006-2009 Blue Ford Fusion.
