SAN DIEGO–Detectives from Southern Division are investigating a report that an adult male approached a teenage girl on her way to school and asked her repeatedly to get inside his vehicle.

On Tuesday, at approximately 8:20 a.m., a 17 year-old girl was walking along 1700 Caliente Avenue on her way to school. A Hispanic male driving a light blue van pulled up to the victim and asked her a question. The suspect then told the victim several times to get in the van, but she refused. The suspect was last seen traveling westbound on Airway Road and then southbound on Otay Mesa Road.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 30 to 40 years old with a heavy build. He had a think mustache, short black hair, and was wearing a camouflage hat and a cream colored jacket.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a light blue 1990’s van, similar to a Chevrolet Astro. The van had a roof rack and rust on the passenger side. The van’s license plates may have been Baja California license plates.
