LAKESIDE–The Medical Examiner’s office released the name of a man who died Wednesday from a gunshot wound in a hotel room at Singing Hills Golf Resort at Sycuan.

The victim was identified as 28-year-old Dylan Brooks of Lakeside. The preliminary cause of death is a gunshot wound and the manner of death is homicide, according to the Medical Examiner’s office.

Sheriff’s homicide detectives continued their investigation and identified 33-year-old Frank Billeter, of Lakeside as the suspect in the murder of Brooks. Billeter was already in custody at San Diego Central Jail for separate charges. Detectives added the additional charge of murder.

On February 10, Sheriff’s deputies and officers with the Sycuan Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at a hotel room at the golf resort in the unincorporated El Cajon.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

The incident is still under investigation.
