San Diego, CA–Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the death of an inmate at the San Diego Central Jail.
On August 30 at about 5:30 p.m., deputies at the jail found a male inmate unresponsive in his cell. Deputies and medical staff performed life-saving measures until relieved by fire department personnel. The inmate was pronounced deceased at the facility.
Homicide detectives said the man was in a cell with two other inmates. No evidence of foul play was discovered.
The identity of the male is known to investigators; however, his name is being withheld pending family notification.
The Medical Examiner’s Office has scheduled the autopsy for this week.
