Jon Edelbrock

DEL MAR–The City of Del Mar have selected Jon Edelbrock as the new Director of Community Services/Lifeguard Chief for the city.

Edelbrock has served the City of Del Mar and the Community Services Department for over 25 years.

Since being hired as a Seasonal Lifeguard in 1992, he progressed through the lifeguard ranks ascending to his recent position of Lifeguard Lieutenant in 2010. In this role, Edelbrock has been responsible for the budget, private use of public space, hiring, and training of lifeguard staff.

“His dedication and long-term commitment to the Del Mar community, his co-workers, lifeguarding profession, as well as his longevity in public service are just some of the many reasons why Jon Edelbrock was selected to lead the Community Services Department,” said City Manager Scott Huth.  “I have no doubt that Jon will do a great job leading the department and continuing to provide a high level of service to the community and the many visitors that enjoy our beautiful beach each year.”

A longtime resident of coastal North County, Edelbrock  lives with his wife and two children. He enjoys time with his family, traveling, surfing, and recently received his Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
