Santee, CA–Two drivers suffered serious injuries following a vehicle collision Wednesday morning in Santee, the Sheriff’s Department said.

The incident happened, just after 6 a.m., at the intersection of North Magnolia and Prospect Avenues.

A silver Ford Focus was traveling southbound on North Magnolia approaching the intersection with Prospect. A white Ford F-350 was traveling westbound on Prospect approaching the intersection with North Magnolia. Both vehicles collided at the intersection, Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Dwain Washington stated in a news release.

The driver of the Ford F-350 was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Ford Focus had to be extracted from the vehicle by Santee fire crews. He was airlifted to the hospital with severe injuries.    

The Santee Sheriff’s Station’s Traffic Unit is investigating the incident. 

Investigators say neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the collision.
