Maritime Museum of San Diego’s tall ship Californian set to sail on April 7 at the 30th annual America’s Schooner Cup Charity Regatta.

SAN DIEGO–Maritime Museum of San Diego will sail its tall ship Californian on San Diego Bay for the 30th annual America’s Schooner Cup Charity Regatta on April 7.

The schooners participating in the event include boats that are ageless examples of living history and many will be coming from distant ports to race.

The Californian will race against schooners of all sizes and types and the public are welcome to join the sail crew. No sailing experience required.

Tickets are limited and available to sail and compete in the race on Californian with adult tickets at $70 for adults and $48 for children.

Maritime Museum of San Diego’s replica of explorer Cabrillo’s galleon replica San Salvador will also be boarding passengers for a fun afternoon of sailing plus views of the schooners racing in San Diego Bay. Day sail tickets for San Salvador are $99 for adults, $94 for seniors, military, and students 13-17 and $59 for children.

The Californian and San Salvador tickets include general admission to the museum which can be an extended treat before or after these on-the-water adventures. Tickets and information are at sdmaritime.org, or guests can call (619) 234-9153 ext.116.

The Silver Gate Yacht Club hosts the America’s Schooner Cup Charity Regatta and proceeds from the annual event benefit Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, a Navy sponsored 501c (3) public nonprofit organization that exists to help meet the emergent financial needs of active duty and retired Sailors, Marines, and their families.
