La Jolla, CA–Tennis players interested in participating in the 135th annual Pacific Coast Men’s Doubles Championship at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club must register by February 18.
The tournament will be played from March 1 to 3 at the tennis club, located at 2000 Spindrift Dr. in La Jolla.
The event, which originated in Northern California in 1890, will feature an impressive field of collegiate players, along with independent competitors including top teaching professionals, promising juniors, college coaches, and former touring professionals.
Many of the best NCAA Men’s college teams in the country are expected to compete, including Ball State University, UC Berkeley, Boston College, UC Los Angeles, California Lutheran University, UC San Diego, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, University of the Pacific, Pepperdine University, University of Redlands, Pomona-Pitzer, University of San Diego, San Diego State University, University of Southern California, Stanford University, and Villanova University.
“We encourage all interested players to submit their tournament entries before Sunday’s deadline,” said Bill Kellogg, tournament director and president of La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club. “The Pacific Coast Men’s Doubles Championship is an excellent opportunity for players to play against top collegiate players in the country. We are anticipating three spectacular days of high-level doubles competition.”
Tennis spectators can attend the tournament with free admission. On-site parking is available for a nominal fee.
The start times for each day of the tournament are March 1 at 8 a.m., March 2, and March 3 at 9 a.m.
The tennis club will host the United States Professional Tennis Association San Diego Division Convention on March 3. The keynote speaker will be Wayne Bryan, father of tennis legends Bob and Mike Bryan, one of the most successful doubles teams of all time.
The convention schedule will include a Kid’s Clinic, an awards luncheon, sponsor presentations, and a pickleball session. Guest speakers include USC Men’s Tennis Head Coach Brett Masi, and tennis coach and author Frank Giampaolo.

The club will also host the 2024 USTA National Hard Court Championships for Women’s 50 to 90 age groups, and La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club Hard Court Tournament for Men’s 60 to 85 age groups from May 13 to May 19.
Named one of the “Top 50 Tennis Resorts in the World” by Tennis Resorts Online, the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club’s reputation as a top tennis destination started when it attracted its first major tournament – the Pacific Coast Men’s Doubles Championship in 1942. The tournament is one of the five-oldest tennis events in the world and the second-oldest tennis event in the United States.
