SAN BERNARDINO–Authorities said the El Dorado fire, burning near Oak Glen in San Bernardino County, was caused by a smoke generating pyrotechnic device, used during a gender reveal party. 

The fire began at 10:23 a.m. on September 5 in the El Dorado Ranch Park in Yucaipa. The blaze spread from the park to the north on to Yucaipa Ridge that separates Mountain Home Village and Forest Falls from the City of Yucaipa.

Over 500 fire crews continue to battle the blaze that has charred 7,050 acres in the area. The fast-moving blaze is 5 percent contained, according to Cal Fire San Bernardino.

Evacuation orders in place for the communities of Oak Glen, Yucaipa Ridge, Mountain Home Village, Forest Falls, and the Yucaipa bench area. 

Residents can evacuate to Yucaipa Community Center as a temporary evacuation facility.
