RAMONA–A Ramona Library was temporarily evacuated Saturday after a suspicious device was placed in front of the building, the San Diego Sheriff’s Department said.

A staff member at the library called shortly after 3 p.m. to report a suspicious device located in front of the library, located at 1275 Main Street.

It is unknown who placed the device or precisely when the device arrived. In an abundance of caution, Ramona patrol deputies evacuated the library and surrounding businesses and requested investigators from Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson to evaluate, investigate and dispose of the device.

At about 4:30 p.m., the area was cleared to return to normal business operation. There were no injuries and an investigation into who placed the device will be on-going.

Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Department or Call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
