Vista, CA–A suspect was arrested Monday on suspicion of the October 18  stabbing death of one man, and attempted murder of another in Vista, authorities said.

The suspect was identified as 30-year-old Daniel Rosas of Vista, the Sheriff’s Department said.

According to Sheriff’s detectives, the nature of the relationship between Rosas and the victims is unclear. The motivation and circumstances of the stabbing are still under investigation.

Last weekend, deputies responded to calls of a stabbing around 11 p.m. in the 1200 block of Palomar Place in Vista. 

When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered two male victims with stab wounds. They provided medical aid to the men, but one victim died of his injuries. He was later identified as 31-year-old Anthony Leal of Escondido. The second victim has been identified as 31-year-old Adan Salazar of Vista. Salazar suffered multiple stab wounds to his upper torso and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
