Jacumba, CA–A man attempting to evade law enforcement was found hiding inside a wall when deputies executed a search warrant early Monday morning in Jacumba, authorities said.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the warrant was served just before 6 a.m. at a residence on the 42000 block of Old Highway 80. The operation was linked to an investigation into an assault with a deadly weapon that occurred on February 22.
During the search, authorities discovered 40-year-old Ross Warren concealed within a wall, along with a firearm, a pellet gun, and an imitation firearm. Inside the home, deputies also found several fabricated explosives and multiple improvised booby traps positioned around the exterior.
The Sheriff’s Bomb and Arson Unit responded to the scene to assess and investigate the hazardous materials. Additional evidence, including firearms, ammunition, explosive devices, and booby traps, was collected in connection to the initial assault investigation.
Warren was arrested on multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, child endangerment, possession and deployment of booby traps, and manufacturing destructive devices. He was booked into the San Diego Central Jail.
His live-in girlfriend, 38-year-old Brenda Beltran, was also taken into custody for obstructing and delaying a peace officer. She was cited and later released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
