El Cajon, CA–A man was arrested on suspicion of mailing a threatening message to a high school in unincorporated El Cajon, authorities said.
On September 16, Sheriff’s detectives and school resource officers investigated a school threat to Valhalla High School.
On September 17, just after 7:30 p.m., Sheriff’s detectives and deputies from the San Diego Sheriff’s Bomb and Arson Unit served a search warrant on the 3100 block of Landis Street in San Diego. During the search warrant service, detectives arrested 37-year-old Ray Talia for two counts of making criminal threats. Deputies linked him to additional threats that were mailed to a Chase Bank in San Diego and to a private residence in El Cajon.
Detectives obtained a gun violence restraining order prohibiting Talia from possessing firearms, and he was booked into the San Diego Central Jail.
There is no current threat to the school or community at large.
