SAN DIEGO–The County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health is issuing a water contact closure for the beach area at the northern boundary of Torrey Pines State Beach, north of Carmel Valley Road in Del Mar due to a reported sewage spill.

The sewage spill is contained; however, an estimated release of 1,800 gallons entered the storm drain resulting in potential impacts to beach water quality.

Signs warning of sewage-contaminated water will remain in place until water testing indicates the ocean water is safe for recreational use at this location.
