Lemon Grove, CA–Sheriff’s detectives and Lemon Grove COPPS deputies seized illegal narcotics during a search warrant at a Lemon Grove business, authorities said.
The search was conducted at approximately 11:20 a.m. on September 10 in the 2700 block of Lemon Grove Avenue as part of an investigation into information that a convicted felon may have access to firearms.
The convicted felon was detained while deputies and detectives served the warrant but was ultimately released. Investigators said they did not locate the firearm they had been seeking that was reportedly connected to him.
During the search, however, detectives discovered a 9mm handgun inside the business, which operates as a barber shop and recording studio. Authorities also seized approximately 2.12 pounds of marijuana, 1.34 pounds of cocaine, 93.4 grams of psilocybin mushrooms and 620 amphetamine pills.
The business is owned by Roy Kirkpatrick, 36, according to authorities. Kirkpatrick and the convicted felon are half-brothers.
Kirkpatrick was taken into custody without incident and transported to the San Diego Central Jail. He was booked on charges including possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of a controlled substance for sale, and possession of a controlled substance for sale involving a separate controlled substance.
The investigation remains ongoing.
