San Diego, CA–After a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, SANDAG Bike to Work Day is back and will be celebrated throughout the San Diego region on May 19.

Registration is open for this regional event, which has been hosted by SANDAG for more than 30 years.

Every year, thousands of commuters choose to GO by BIKE on Bike to Work Day. Participants can commute along improved bikeways, stop at one of many pit stops for refreshments, and pick up a free commemorative t-shirt. This year, SANDAG invites those who are working remotely to participate by starting their day with a bike ride.

“With gas prices rising, now is the perfect time to check out Bike to Work Day. It’s about trying something new – showing folks that biking can be a safe, fun, and fast way to get where you need to go,” said SANDAG Chair and Encinitas Mayor Catherine Blakespear “In 2022, SANDAG will open 11 miles and start construction on 19 miles of new bikeways to make biking an option that works for all of us across the San Diego region.”

Participants must register by April 10 for a chance to win a $500 gift card from Moment Bicycles. To receive a free Bike to Work Day t-shirt, participants will be required to present their registration confirmation at one of the many designated SANDAG Bike to Work Day pit stops.
