Vista, CA–A Ring camera caught a man allegedly kicking in the front door, and breaking into a residence on Friday in Vista, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.

Sheriff’s investigators arrested 33 year–old Sonny Hunter on suspicion of burglary, probation violation, and vehicle theft. He was booked into the Vista Detention Facility.

The Sheriff’s Communication Center received a call around 4 p.m. of a suspect who forced entry into a residence near South Santa Fe and Mar Vista Drive.

The homeowner was not home at the time but saw through their Ring camera system, a man using force entry to enter their house. The homeowner told the man to get out of their house using the voice feature and saw the man walk out of the house shortly thereafter. Deputies recognized the suspect from the video and went to the area where they suspected the man frequented.

A Sheriff’s helicopter arrived and began making announcements of the suspect’s description. During that time, a witness who had heard the announcements by the helicopter alerted the Sheriff’s Communication Center about a man matching the suspect’s description. The deputies who were already in the same area were directed to an open field where the suspect was attempting to hide. He was located and arrested by deputies.
