San Diego, CA–The San Diego Superior Court has ordered the conditional release of Sexually Violent Predator Douglas Badger in the community of Borrego Springs, according to authorities.

The California Department of State Hospitals has recommended the placement of Douglas Badger at 1619 Zuni Trail in Borrego Springs. He was convicted of sexual assaults dating back to 1981 and 1990.

While this address falls within the jurisdiction of the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, neither the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office nor the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Task Force is responsible for the selection of the proposed site. The selection process is the responsibility of the Department of State Hospitals, and the San Diego Superior Court.

With the hearing scheduled for August 5, the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Task Force will be accepting public comments about the proposed placement to be included in the formal response to the court and the Department of State Hospitals.

This is the public’s opportunity to support or object to the proposed placement before it is finalized. The District Attorney’s Office and Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Task Force will submit the community comments to the court for their consideration.

Comments will be accepted between the dates of July 8 and July 22.

The public can email their comments regarding the placement to: sdsafe@sdsheriff.org. They can also call (858) 583-7238. Email comments to: SVP/Release/SAFE Task Force, 9425 Chesapeake Drive, San Diego, CA 92123
