Oceanside, CA–Firefighters contained a kitchen fire that broke out at an apartment complex in Oceanside Saturday afternoon, fire officials said.
The incident occurred in a unit at the Sunterra Apartment complex, located at 3851 Sherbourne Drive, just before 4:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters from the Oceanside and Vista Fire Departments found the blaze contained in the kitchen. They quickly brought the fire under control, preventing further property damage and ensuring the safety of all residents.
Fire officials believe the cause of the fire to be accidental, likely due to unattended cooking. The apartment suffered smoke damage, primarily confined to the kitchen. As a precaution, residents were temporarily evacuated.
The Oceanside Fire Department reminds everyone to exercise caution when cooking. Simple steps, such as staying in the kitchen while cooking and keeping flammable items away from heat sources, can significantly reduce the risk of kitchen fires.
