San Diego, CA–The San Diego Superior Court has ordered the conditional release of sexually violent predator Michael Martinez, authorities said Friday.
The California Department of State Hospitals has recommended the placement of Martinez at 28308 Via Oak Grove Lane in Ranchita, an unincorporated community in San Diego county.
Between 1979 and 2004, Martinez was convicted in four separate cases including child molestation, annoying a child, and lewd or lascivious acts upon a child under 14.
While the address falls within the jurisdiction of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, neither the Sheriff’s office, the District Attorney’s Office, or the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Task Force are responsible for the selection of the proposed site. The selection process is the responsibility of the San Diego Superior Court and the Department of State Hospitals.
Public comments about the placement of Martinez will be accepted during a hearing scheduled on September 20 at 9 a.m. in San Diego Superior Court.
The SAFE Task Force will also be accepting comments about the proposed placement in Ranchita. Comments will be accepted between August 16 and August 30.
