SAN DIEGO–Construction crews will close all lanes on northbound Interstate 805 (I-805) from Nobel Drive to Mira Mesa Boulevard, Tuesday through Thursday nights from 9:30 until 5 the following morning. The connector ramps from eastbound and westbound State Route 52 (SR-52) to northbound I-805 will also be closed during this same time period. The closures are required to safely remove two overhead sign structures.

Through traffic on northbound I-805 will be directed to westbound SR-52, then northbound on Interstate 5 to northbound I-805. Local traffic may continue north on I-805 to exit at Governor Drive or Nobel Drive. Motorists on La Jolla Village Drive, Nobel Drive and Governor Drive may take southbound I-805 to westbound SR-52, then northbound Interstate 5 to northbound I-805. Electronic message signs will be in place along northbound I-805 advising of the upcoming closure. Detour signs will be placed to assist motorists around the closures.

The work is part of Stage 1 of I-805 North Express Lanes Project. The project will construct one carpool lane in each direction in the median of I-805 from just north of SR-52 to just north of Mira Mesa Boulevard. The project will also construct a Direct Access Ramp to and from southbound I-805 at Carroll Canyon Road. Additional improvements include bridge widening and ramp and noise barrier modifications. This stage is estimated to cost approximately $86 million.
