OCEANSIDE–Homicide detectives arrested a man Monday after he fatally stabbed his former brother-in-law in the stomach during an argument at an Oceanside home, Oceanside police said Tuesday.
The suspect, 49-year-old James Tovar, was taken into custody at the scene.
Detectives say the fatal stabbing took place in the 3000 block of Thunder Drive. Police officers arrived to find the victim bleeding from at least one stab wound.
Both men lived in the residence along with other family members. They began arguing with each other which escalated to a fight, followed by the stabbing, according to police.
The man sustained stab wounds to his torso and hands. He was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
